John F. Seifer Jr.

ELKHART - John F. Seifer Jr., 85, of Elkhart, passed away at 1:20 pm Sunday, February 5, 2012, in his home surrounded by family.
John was born on October 18, 1926, in Chicago, the son of the late John F. and Mary (Garner) Seifer. On July 17, 1947, in Valparaiso, he married Carol A. "Dolly" Neill. She passed away on November 2, 2010. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Seifer. He is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Rick) Peak of Elkhart and Diane (Joe) Avery of Lakeville; two grandsons, David Fine and Jimmy Peak; and two great-grandchildren, Darik and Savanna Fine.
John graduated from Adams High School before entering the U.S. Navy. He served from January 26, 1945, to June 24, 1946. He was a member of the Mishawaka Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Elkhart Moose Lodge and V.F.W. Post 360. He will be remembered for his love of family, pets and sports.
Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 pm today, February 8, 2012, in the Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, February 9, 2012, in the funeral home, with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola Memorial contributions may be made to Pet Refuge, 2300 W. 6th St., Mishawaka, IN 46544.
