Jack L. Slabaugh, 71, of Lake Drive, Elkhart, Ind., passed away at 5:10 p.m. on Wednesday, March 8, following an illness.

He was born on Oct. 15, 1928, in Bremen, Ind., to Wilson and Justine Slabaugh, who preceded him in death.

On May 21, 1949, he married the former Norma J. Weaver in Mishawaka. She survives. He is also survived by a son, Dane Slabaugh of Elkhart; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Jonathan, Gregory and Amanda Slabaugh; a brother, Michael G. Slabaugh of Indianapolis, Ind.; and by a sister, Sue G. McKeon of Jackson, Wyo.

Mr. Slabaugh was a retired salesperson for Simonton Lake Marina, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Harris Prairie Church of Christ, Granger, Ind., where he was very active in church functions. He was also a scout leader for many years. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a sergeant in the U.S. Army.

The family will receive guests from 4 to 8 p.m. today in the Bubb Funeral Chapel North, 3910 N. Main Street, Mishawaka, Ind., and also one-half hour prior to services at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in the Harris Prairie Church of Christ. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Valley Memorial Park, Granger.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Harris Prairie Church of Christ.
