GEORGE D. GRAYSON

SOUTH BEND - George "Downey' Grayson, 60, passed away February 5, 2010, in Newport, KY. Downey was born in South Bend, IN, to George and Charlotte Ann on November 28, 1949, the oldest of 10 children. He graduated from John Adams High School and Wilberforce University in Ohio.

He moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, where he met and married Mamie Johnson on October 1, 1983. To this union a son, Jarrett Trent, was born.

Downey was employed by Brighton Center in Newport, KY, as a training developer for the past 21 years. Downey had lived in Elsmere, KY, for 30 years.

Golfing and all sports were his interests.

He is survived by his wife and son. His mother, Charlotte Anne Grayson of South Bend, IN, and his siblings, Paulette King, Geraldine Manns, Grace Gordon, Lynda Lee, Elsie Kay (Calvin) Williams and Karin (Joseph) Taylor, all of South Bend. Doye (Renard) LaSane and Suellen Donaldson, both of Florissant, Missouri, and one brother, Oliver James of Minnesota. Numerous nieces, nephews and relatives in South Bend and Michigan will cherish his memory. He will be forever in our hearts.

Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, February 13, 2010, at noon, with viewing at 10 a.m. Erlanger Baptist Church, 116 Commonwealth, Erlanger, KY 41018. Arrangements are being handled by Jones and Simpson Funeral Home in Covington, Kentucky.
