NILES - George “Corky” Robert Reith, Jr., 73, of Niles, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2016, at home.

He was born September 9, 1942, in South Bend, IN, to the late George R. and Dorothy Hannah Reith. He was a United States Air Force veteran. On December 28, 1976, George married Deann J. Schmaltz at a ceremony in South Bend, IN. George retired from National Standard in Niles after 37 years of service in computer technology. He was very involved in many things in the community. George coached the Yankees in 9-12 year old Brandywine Midge League Baseball, Babe Ruth baseball, the Bucks in 4th - 6th grade boys basketball, 7th - 8th grade girls basketball and helped organize the Brandywine Girls' Softball league. He was a Cub Scout Master of Pack 550, the secretary in the National Standard Golf League and a member of the St. Joseph Lodge #4 F+AM, Niles, Scottish Rite, 32nd Degree, South Bend, Orak Shrine Temple, Michigan City, IN, and was a driver providing transportation for children to the Chicago and Cincinnati Hospitals. George loved his family and taught all of his children to fish for perch of Lake Michigan. Most importantly he taught his children integrity, to be honorable, and also how to be responsible adults.

George is survived by his wife of 39 years, Deann; sons, Brian R. Reith, Keven R. (Lisa) Reith, George R. (Nicole) Reith III, Timothy (Tina) Bunch, Daniel L. Bunch; daughter, Julie D. (James) Burnworth; sisters, Marilyn (John) Marvin, Nancy Radics, Donna K. Hill; grandchildren, Travis Reith, Tracey Reith, Brandon Reith, Melodi Reith, Chelsi Reith, Kody Reith, Tiffany Reith, Austin Reith, Chad Reith, Cassandra Bunch, Krystal Bunch, Kori Bunch, James Burnworth, Jr. and Jessica Burnworth; and great-grandchildren, Camren Boyce, Mercedes Beaird and Charlotte Reith.

Cremation has taken place. Memorial services for George will be held at 1 pm on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Hoven Funeral Home, Buchanan. Memorial visitation will take place two hours prior to the services from 11 am - 1 pm.
