Lynne Andress Morse

Dec. 31, 1938 - Dec. 5, 2005

Lynne T. Morse, 66, of Niles, Michigan, passed away after a lengthy illness on Monday, December 5th, in Memorial Hospital, South Bend, Indiana.

She was born on December 31, 1938, in Richmond, Virginia, to the late Irene (Schrader) and Ken Thomas, and had lived in the South Bend area since 1946. Mrs. Morse was also preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah M. Garwood.

On August 22, 1959, in South Bend, as Lynne A. Thomas, she married Charles T. Morse, who survives. Mrs. Morse is also survived by two daughters, Katharine T. "Katha" Morse of Seattle, Washington, and Elizabeth M. "Buffy" (Mike) Lowenhar of South Bend; one son, Charles T. "Chuck" Morse Jr. of Buchanan, Michigan; four grandchildren, Marie Morse, a freshman at St. Mary's College, South Bend, Hugh Morse of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Clint Lowenhar and Maggie Lowenhar, both of South Bend; and a brother, Ken C. Thomas of Yorktown, Virginia.

Mrs. Morse was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. She was a lifetime member, president and board member of the Potawatomi Zoological Society, which under her leadership a bond was issued that saved the zoo. She was a true lover of animals. Mrs. Morse was a 1956 graduate of John Adams High School, South Bend, and received her B.A. from Hollins College in Roanoke, Virginia. She was also a former member of the Junior League.

Memorial services for Mrs. Morse will be at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 12th, in the Welsheimer Family Funeral Home, 17033 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until services, and following the memorial service the family will receive friends at the Signal Point Country Club in Niles.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Memorial Health Foundation, 615 N. Michigan, South Bend, IN 46601; to the Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, 111 Sunnybrook Court South Bend, IN 46637; or to the Potawatomi Zoological Society, 500 S. Greenlawn Ave., South Bend, IN 46615.
