UNIONJames W. Wharton, 51, of 13256 Beechwood Drive S., was dead on arrival at 5:12 p.m. Thursday in Elkhart General Hospital of injuries from an auto accident at the intersection of County Road 6 and John Weaver Parkway, Elkhart.

He was employed as a sales representative for the past two years at Damon Corp., Elkhart. On Oct. 9, 1982, in Arlington, Texas, he married LaVerne A. (Barnett) Robinson. She survives with three daughters, Jennifer L. Dorgan and Mary J. Shelby, both of Warsaw, and Victoria D. Wharton of Elkhart; two sons, Michael J. of Goshen and James S. of Warsaw; a stepson, Gregory A. Lusk of Elkhart; four grandchildren; and a brother, Donald M. of Portland, Tenn.

He was a member of National Rifle Association, Toastmasters International and Shooters Gun Club of Elkhart, and was a Navy veteran.

Memorial services will be at 6 p.m. Monday in Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home, Elkhart. There will be no visitation. Cremation will take place.
