Elsie Julie Rice

Elsie J. (Toner) Rice, 79, of West Tanglewood Lane, Mishawaka, Ind., formerly of Colony Court, died Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 11, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center-Mishawaka.
Elsie formerly worked for Barry's Seat Cover, South Bend, Ind., for over 20 years.
She was born May 17, 1924, in South Bend, to Frank and Elsie (Nemeth) Gottman, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gregory Lee Toner; and a brother, Albert Gottman. On Aug. 2, 1947, in South Bend, she married Russell Lloyd Toner, who died July 16, 1968. On May 5, 1974, in Mishawaka, Ind., she married C. Lee Rice, who died Dec. 5, 1997.
She is survived by three sons, Kerry Alan Toner of St. Joseph, Mich., Douglas Dale Toner and Craig Steven Toner, both of Mishawaka; and by five grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today, Nov. 14, in the HICKEY Funeral Home, 17131 Cleveland Road. Interment will follow at Highland Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until services in the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.
