Henry Carlson - Class Of 1970 VIEW PROFILE

Henry Carlson

Henry F. Carlson

Henry F. Carlson, 70, of Mishawaka passed away on Sunday, June 25, 2023, in Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Henry was born in South Bend on August 6, 1952, to Foster and Bertha (Casias) Carlson. On May 27, 1978, he married the former Patti Mayer who survives. Also surviving are his children, Cassandra Carlson, Foster Carlson and Nicholas (Mariah) Carlson; and sister, Elma (Galen) Watterson.

Henry was greatly interested in astronomy and NASA, as well as ancient coins and artifacts. He had a passion for creation science, history, and photography. He was also a longtime fan of Indy car racing. Through his job at the Tire Rack, he twice won the opportunity to drive an Indy-type race car in California, which was a great thrill for him. He also got to drive a Nascar. He enjoyed building and launching rockets from scratch. Henry enjoyed dressing up as Obi Wan Kenobi, with his daughter, Cassandra, who dressed as Princess Leia, to attend Star Wars events and Comicons. He loved watching trains with his sons, along with visiting museums and attending coin shows. He led a very rich life.

Henry was very interested and concerned about those he loved, generous in helping them with needs, and consistent in his giving to several charities on a regular basis. He loved the Lord, and often spoke with anyone who crossed his path, to share the gospel, or to encourage a brother or sister in Christ.

Friends may visit with the family from 10 am-1 pm Friday, June 30, 2023, at Hahn Funeral Home, 505 W. 8th Street, Mishawaka. The funeral service will begin at 1 pm. Henry will be laid to rest in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Osceola, IN.
