John worked as an IT specialist after earning several collegiate degrees.  He was also quite proud of the time he spent in the US Army serving in Germany.

His wife Maria C. Hennion, survives after many years of happiness together. Along with his wife, John is survived by his parents, George F. Hennion Jr. and Mary T. Reber. His much loved son, Joshua P. Hennion; and stepdaughters, Deirdre Cunanan, Ivy Hennion, Vivien Puzon, and Criszella Puzon, who he loved as his own; grandson, Liam P. Nguyen; sisters, Michelle Haluda, and Julia A. Hennion and her children, Matthew John Orta, Joseph R. (Yannin) Orta, Jessica A. (Landon Booker) Orta. He also leaves behind his best friend Ricardo Orta, stepfather, David Haluda, and a host of cousins, aunts, uncles, and extended family. John was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; and cousins, Robert and Joseph Hennion.

John was an amazing husband, father, son, brother, nephew, uncle and cousin, who had a quirky and dry sense of humor. He learned many different languages, loved traveling and exploring new places with Cecile. He was an avid reader and was never without a book in his hands.  He loved trying new foods and would always take pictures of anything new he tried. No visit home to Indiana would be complete without having his whole family join him at Barnaby’s and Bonnie Doon’s, where he always had to have their chocolate mint soda.

A memorial service for John will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at Palmer Funeral Home – Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend. Friends may visit with the family from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
