Michael B Jaffe

Michael Benson Jaffe

May 15, 1961 ~ February 21, 2023 (age 61)

Michael Benson Jaffe, 61, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2023. He was born May 15, 1961, to the late Burton and Dorothy (Kohen) Jaffe. Michael married his wife of thirty-four years, Joan (Ramesh) Jaffe, September 21, 1985. Michael and Joan are lifelong residents of South Bend, Indiana.

Michael is preceded in death by his sister, Elie Niespodzany. He is survived by his wife Joan, and his two sons, David (Winter) Jaffe and John (Chelsea) Jaffe.

Michael was a laid back and easy-going man who everyone always had a good relationship with. His amiability trickled into all aspects of his life. Michael’s professional life was both diverse and adventurous; he owned a real estate and mortgage business, Michiana Mortgage, and after working in real estate, Michael worked for the St. Joseph County Highway department. He later worked as an independent truck driver for Kaylines Trucking and then eventually for Klink Trucking.

Outside of work Michael enjoyed the simple aspects of life. He enjoyed being active especially with friends and his sons as they lifted weights together, and he loved to ride his Harley. Michael also knew how to rest when the opportunity presented itself and would by watching old classic TV shows. Most of all, he enjoyed the warm hearth of his home where he had a life filled with love and adventure.

The family would like to thank Center for Hospice for the excellent care that Michael received and would be grateful for any memorial donations to be made to them.

Wells and Cruz Funeral Home has been trusted with arrangements, and there will be a memorial service honoring Michael at a later date. I'm very sorry to hear of Mike's passing. He was a fun guy to be around. We had a lot of laughs in Mr. Poe's gymnastics class.

Mike was one of my best friends in high school.  Part of our "Gang".  Always made us laugh and not afraid to say things that I would only think and not say!  Mike was always there to help anybody and he also had a very caring side.  He will be missed. -Rick Smith
