Michael Curtis Kinney
Michael Curtis Kinney, aged 61, departed this life on January 12, 2024, in LaPorte, Indiana, taking with him a legacy of warmth, professionalism, and a zest for life that will be profoundly missed. Born on December 31, 1962, in South Bend, Indiana, Michael’s effervescent spirit was evident from an early age, influencing everyone he encountered throughout his journey. Michael married his beloved wife, Debra DeVries on May 3, 1986 in Hickory Hills, Illinois.
Professionally, Michael made a significant impact as the Chief Financial Officer of Value Tool & Engineering, where his expertise and dedication were not only instrumental to the company’s success but also an inspiration to his colleagues. His contributions extended beyond his work, through comradeship and commitment shown within the various associations he was involved with, embodying a sense of community and cooperation.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife, Debra, his daughter, Olivia Kinney; his son, Joseph Kinney; his siblings, Kathleen (Jerome) Mitchell, Timothy, Patrick (Mary Lou), John (Jean), Terrance (Marsha), James, and Kerry (Kim) Kinney, many nieces and nephews, all who have had the honor of sharing a life with him. Preceded in death by his parents, John and Patricia Kinney, Michael's memory will be cherished and his life celebrated by all who knew him.
Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Thursday, January 18, 2024, at Saint Matthew Cathedral, 1701 Miami St, South Bend, IN 46613 with visitation from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. followed by burial at Riverview. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Matthew Cathedral. Palmer Funeral Homes – River Park Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
