Michael J. "Lico" Lichatowich, 47, of Eisenhower Avenue, South Bend, Ind., died after a brief illness at 5:36 a.m. Sunday morning, July 22, in the Saint Joseph Regional Medical Cen-ter. Mr. Lichatowich was born Jan. 16, 1954, in South Bend, to John and Julia (Szabo) Lichatowich, and had lived in the area all his life. Besides his parents, two sisters, Ellen and Linda Lichatowich, preceded him in death 

Mike graduated from Adams High School and then on to the University of Southern Mississippi, receiving both his bachelor's and master's degrees In chemistry and mathematics. He then went to work for Niles Chemical Coatings, Inc.. of Niles Mich.. where he was employed most of his life, and was the company's vice president of regulatory compliance.

On June 1, 1991. In South Bend. he married Lynn Susan "Sue" Solnoky, who survives. He is also survived by a daughter. Chelsea Nichole Lichatowich of Norwalk, Iowa.

Mike was a member of St Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and Sons of the American Legion Post 151 of Niles.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today, July 24, in the McGann Funeral Home, 2313 E. Edison Road, South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be recited al 3:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday. July 25, in St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Burial will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery of South Bend. Mike was an avid fan of NASCAR and Notre Dame. He will be missed by all who knew him. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph County Humane Society, 2506 Grape Road, Mishawaka, IN 46545.
