SOUTH BEND — Douglas Leon Owens, a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, depart-ed this life on Monday, June 22. He graduated from John Adams High School,

For a period of eight years, he served in the United States Air Force. He was employed by l&M Electric Company and various other jobs; he also was a member of Laymen Chapel C.M.E. Church.

Doug leaves to cherish his loving memory a devoted mother and stepfather, Annie J. (Owens) McBroom and Spencer McBroom of Los Angeles, Calif.; his wife, Jill Marie Owens; a daughter, Jillnika Owens of Fayetteville, N.C.; a son, Jermon Owens of Fayetteville, N.C.; a grandson, Tyler Hardeman of Middletown, Ohio; two sisters, Anita and Benita Owens, both of Tucson, Ariz.; three brothers, Roderick (Wanda) Owens, Gerard (Sharron) Newhouse and Frederick (Judy) Owens, all of South Bend, Ind.; along with a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives who love Doug very much.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Laymen Chapel C.M.E. Church where friends may call one hour before the service. Alford's Mortuary is handling arrangements. Douglas, your loving smiles, kindness and kisses will be missed by many in the lives that you have touched, but God knows best. May you rest in peace, we all love you.
