GRANGER -- David L. Underly , 51, residing in Granger, IN, passed away at 8:29 p.m. Monday, December 11, 2006, in his home following an illness.

David was born Feb. 25, 1955, in South Bend, and graduated from John Adams High School. On August 25, 1973, in South Bend, he married Patti J. Wolfinger. He was a loving and caring husband to Patti for 33 years. He was also the best dad to three children, Shauna (Chad) Whitaker of Mishawaka, Denise Underly and Ryan Underly , both of Granger, and the most wonderful grandpa to David, Brittney and Kaylee Whitaker. Also surviving are his mother, Dorothy (Wilson) Underly of South Bend; three sisters, Kathleen (Don) Adkins of Kansas City, KS, Linda (John) Pierson of South Bend and Cindy (Deron) Kosloski of Elkhart; and a brother, Kenneth (Margo) Underly of Mishawaka.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Underly .

David enjoyed playing golf and bowling. He was employed with Honeywell Corp. for 32 years, working as a tool-and-die maker. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 9 and served as union steward.

Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 15, 2006, in Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 South Michigan Street, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel.
