Sherman Reynard Wallace - Class Of 1973 VIEW PROFILE

Sherman Reynard Wallace

Sherman Raynard Wallace was born on April 7th, 1955, in St Joseph County, South Bend, Indiana and was raised by his mother Willa Mae Wallace and step father, Johnny Jenkins, SR.

 

He is preceded in death by his mother Willa Mae Wallace, Stepfather Johnny Jenkins SR., wife Cynthia Wallace, sisters Gwendolyn Lewis, Maxine Daniels, Lela Faye Wallace, Patricia Mitchell, and brother Jerry Jenkins.   

Sherman is survived by his daughter, Micaiah Marie Blackshear; son, Cameron H. Youngblood (mother, Allison); son in-law, James Deshune Blackshear; grandsons, James David Blackshear, Judah Benjamin Blackshear; granddaughter, Shulam Daniyel Blackshear; along with his sister, Debra Jenkins; brother, Johnny Jenkins; and a host of nieces and nephews.

 

Sherman grew up in a large family and was the eldest son. From the age of eight years old, Sherman played various brass instruments after being introduced to them by his local Salvation Army. He carried that knowledge and love for music with him throughout his life which ultimately led him to hosting “Sleepers Awake” for over a decade at WCPE in North Carolina. 

 

Sherman belonged to Christ-the-King Church in Cary, North Carolina and was a lifetime Member of the Salvation Army of Raleigh, North Carolina.  With his larger-than-life personality, and charismatic way, no one that met Sherman was a stranger. He loved his family very much and those outside of the family who were close to him; he considered family.

Funeral Service is 1pm, Friday, May 26, 2023 in Palmer Funeral Home – West Chapel 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628 where family and friends may begin to gather at 12noon.
