Mary Elizabeth Base (Sigler)

 

Mary Sigler (Base) died on May 12, 2022, in Bowling Green, Kentucky.

Born in Palo Alto, California on March 25, 1957, Mary grew up in South Bend, Indiana graduating in 1975 from John Adams High School and attending IUSB. Mary had a big heart and a soul for servanthood. As a teenager she began volunteering and then working for Camp Milhouse, a residential summer camp for children and adults of all ages with varying disabilities. She went on to work as an office manager and dispatcher in South Bend and Elkhart, Indiana including more than 15 years with Hull Lift Truck in Elkhart.

Retiring to Bowling Green, Kentucky Mary was a member of Cherry’s Chapel. As a lifetime member of the National Corvette Club and Museum, Mary did volunteer work at the museum.

Mary is survived by her spouse of 22 years, Richard Sigler of Bowling Green, KY; her daughter, Rachel Rody (Will), and grandsons, Jimmy Rody and Johnny Rody, all of Bristol, Indiana; mother, Melba Base of Sebring, Florida; sister, Marsha Base (Cheryl Hemmerle) of St. Paul, Minnesota, and her children’s father, Bob Bell Jr, of Elkhart, Indiana. Mary is preceded in death by her son, Matthew Bell, her father, Devon Base, and infant sister, Robin Base.

A celebration of life will be announced later.

Memorial contributions can be made to Memorial Hospital of South Bend – Beacon Health System, Riley Children’s Hospital – Indiana University Health, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Indiana, or the Camp Milhouse Lodge Campaign.
