Christian Dee Orr

Christian Orr, 65, of South Bend, IN, passed away on June 20th, 2023, in his home surrounded by his family. 

Chris was born in Mishawaka, IN, on December 21, 1957, to the late Frederick Orr and Janet (Eldridge) Orr-Norton.  Along with his parents and grandparents, he is preceded in death by his older half-sister, Sherilyn Salgine.  Chris is survived by his ex-wife, Kathrine Orr of South Bend, by his two daughters, Kayla K. (Mike) Oler of South Bend, and Melanie M. (Tyler) Martin of South Bend, by one son, Stuart B. (Jessica) Orr of Rensselaer, IN and by his grandchildren, Tierney, Midori, Darcy, Lauren, Oliver, Hudson, Ethan, Aurora, and Mikayla.  He is also survived by his three sisters, Lisa (Jon) Johnston of Grand Junction, CO, Merri (Aaron) DeWinter of Tampa, FL, and Kristin (Allen) Arnold of St. Augustine, FL and by his three brothers, Wayne Orr of Athens, NY, Michael Orr of Mishawaka, IN, and Peter (Petra) Orr of Stein, Germany, as well as many nieces, nephews, and close friends. 

Chris was an avid rock-n-roll enthusiast, who could recall every single detail of the concerts he attended.  He played the bass guitar and enjoyed jamming along to Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith, and Black Sabbath, to name a few.  Chris also enjoyed fishing and hunting spending most evenings in the woods or near a river.  He spent the 80’s and 90’s loading up his family and spending nearly every weekend at zoos and museums. Most of all, Chris loved being a Papa to his grandkids and asked about them fondly, right until the very end. 

There will be no service taking place at this time. In lieu of flowers, contributions to honor of Chris can be made to Pet Refuge, 4626 S. Burnett Dr., South Bend, IN 46614, where Chris met his longtime companion, Rupert.

Rest in peace, Chris. And rock on.
