Yul Brynner Thomas, Sr

March 28, 1957 ~ July 30, 2020 (age 63)

Yul B. “Smiley” Thomas, 63, transitioned this life on July 30, 2020 in his home. He was the 7th child born to the late Herbert L. and Margaret Thomas Sr. on March 28, 1957, in South Bend, IN.. His confession to Christ was in 2017. He was a 1976 graduate of John Adams High School. Yul had a very strong work ethic. He was employed by the City of South Bend Street Department, Steel Warehouse and A J Wright. He retired from Success Academy in September 2019. 

Surviving are his three loving children, Tytisia Thomas of Chicago, IL, Jasmine Thomas and Yul B. (Paris) Thomas,Jr.; along with five beautiful grandchildren: Marquan Brown, Kamariya Bonman, Tarriah Johnson of Chicago, IL, Asher Thomas and Nia Thomas of South Bend, IN and the very active great-grandson, Kashmere James, of Chicago, IL. 

Also with numerous memories are his siblings: Mary (Robert) Lacy, Arlington TX; Robert Thomas, Sr., Cartersville, GA, William Ray Thomas and Rosalyn Thomas of South Bend, IN. Preceding him are his parents, Herbert L. and Margaret L. Thomas, Sr.; two brothers, Herbert Thomas, Jr and Carlton Thomas, Sr.; a sister, Irma Jean Thomas.

Yul (Smiley) loved spending time with family and friends, enjoyed listening and doing his cool dance to underwater boogie and was quite the jokester. His favorite mode of transportation was his bike. 

Services for Mr. Yul Thomas will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Palmer Funeral Homes - West Chapel, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, IN 46628. Friends may call on the family for visitation for one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Apostle Charles Harris, Sr. to officiate.
