Robert J. Konrath

SOUTH BEND -- Robert J. Konrath, 75, of South Bend, IN, passed away at 5:25 a.m. Tuesday, June 19, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, South Bend.
He retired from South Bend Community School Corporation after 30-plus years of service, where he taught biology at Clay Middle School and greatly enjoyed working with the BIO-RAMA Club.
He was born on August 4, 1931, in South Haven, MI, to Michael J. and Cathrine (Teitsworth) Konrath.
Mr. Konrath is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, John M. and Beth Konrath of Mishawaka; two nephews, Richard Nichols and Steve (Sue) Nichols; two nieces, Brenda Konrath and Amy (Cary) Malchow; two great-nephews, Dakota and Corbin; and two great-nieces, Carly and Reece.
A sister, Dorothy Nichols, preceded him in death in 1995.
Mr. Konrath was a member of the Audubon Society and Humane Society. He was a graduate of Ball State University and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1962. He loved hiking and camping.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2007, in the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Mishawaka. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
