Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army (Retired) COLUMBIA, SC - Memorial service for Stan Sascha Sessler, 76, will be held at 4 p.m. Monday, October 25, 2010, in the Dunbar Funeral Home, Dutch Fork Chapel, Irmo, S.C., with visitation beginning at 2 p.m.

Stan passed away peacefully, with his family at his side on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, after a long battle with COPD. He was born in South Bend, Indiana, and was a son of the late Stanley Sascha Sessler and Geraldine Whitinger Sessler. He graduated from Indiana University and served his country honorably with two tours in Vietnam and later taught ROTC at the University of Detroit. He retired from the Army in Augusta, Georgia, in 1978. He and his late wife, Pat, opened and operated Curry Copy Center on Main Street in Columbia for 20 years before retiring. Stan will be remembered for his interest in the out-of-doors and the pleasurable time spent with family and friends in pursuit of fur, feathers and fins.

He is survived by his loving wife of 21 years, Sue; son and daughter-in-law, Stan and Helene Sessler of Columbia; daughter and son-in-law, Geri and Ed Colbert of West Palm Beach, Florida; son, Nick Sessler of West Palm Beach, Florida; brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Joyce Sessler of Crossville, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Michael Blithe, Andrea Blithe, Shelby Sessler and Sami Sessler; one great-grandson, Sean Blithe; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his first wife, Pat, parents and a brother, Ernie.
