Rosemary (Brothers) Belakovich

Rosemary Belakovich, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2022. She was born on February 14, 1933 in South Bend, IN to the late Elmer & Ernestine (Lawyer) Brothers and has remained a lifelong resident of this community. On November 25, 1954 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, South Bend, Rosemary was united in Holy Matrimony to Richard J. Belakovich who preceded her in death on May 9, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Karen J. Belakovich on November 5, 2002, brothers, William, Richard, and John Brothers, and sister Katherine Berger.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne (Steve Maes) Switalski of Granger, Mary (Daniel) Mitschelen of South Bend, Chris (Tracy) Belakovich of Elkhart, and Joyce (James) Stempak of Kemp, TX. Also surviving are fifteen grandchildren, Stacie (Chas) Darnell, Kyle Switaski, Jeremy Belakovich, Erik Jones, Hali Jones, Shayna (Adam) Biggs, Garrett (Alicia) Mitschelen, Lexi (Andrew Teall) Mitschelen, Allie (Nick) Wawrzyniak, Kaley (Nathan) Amonett, Morgan (Luke) Boehnlein, Lauren (Michael) Bryan, Kristen (Sam) Cook, Richard Stempak, and Scott Stempak, along with eleven great-grandchildren, Ashton, Chloe, Taylor, Jocelyn, Bree Ann, Blane, Natalie, Nora, Harlow, Hudson, Emily, and one due in January, a great-great granddaughter, her sister, Theresa (Sr. Elaine) Brothers, along with sisters-in-law, Verna Brothers, Nancy Brothers, Kathleen Brothers, and several nieces and nephews.

Rosemary was a longtime member of St. Jude Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She was a stay-at-home mom while raising her children, later entering the workforce at Valley American Bank from which she retired. She enjoyed puzzles, a competitive game of euchre with her family, having lunch and playing bridge with her friends and spending time with her family.

Visitation for Rosemary will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 6, at the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 So. Michigan St., South Bend, and one hour prior to mass on Wednesday at the Church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Jude Catholic Church, 19704 Johnson Road, South Bend. Graveside services and burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.palmerfuneralhomes.com
