MARY LOU (La FORTUNE) GRANNING

Mary Lou Granning Nov. 21, 1926 - June 18, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Mary Lou Granning, 87, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away at home on June 18, 2014, following a brief illness, surrounded by her family. Mary Lou was born November 21, 1926, to Edmund and Genevieve La Fortune in South Bend, Indiana.

On October 25, 1947, she married William J. Granning, who preceded her in death in 2012.

Surviving are children, Carol Fry (Craig), Ron Granning and Karen Schlobohm (Dan); grandchildren, Courtney Koszyk (Aaron), Lucas Fry (Rachel) and Haley Harrell (Bryan); and great-grandchildren, Kalyn, Kyle, Logan, Jordan, Grace, Grady William, Reese and Cooper. She is also survived by a sister, Joan O'Donnell of California.

Mary Lou attended St. Joseph Grade School and graduated in 1944 from John Adams High School.

She retired after twenty-two years of service from Society Bank. She was an avid Notre Dame football and basketball fan and enjoyed following the Chicago Cubs. In later years, she enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune, Price is Right and Jeopardy. She was affectionately known as "Grandma Moo" and "Queenie" to Bill. She enjoyed spending time with family and sitting outside in the sun visiting with neighbors. Mary Lou was a loving mother and grandmother who supported her family in every way. She never missed a birthday or special event.
