Donald E. Doetsch

Donald E. Doetsch, 72, of South Bend, Indiana, died Saturday, September 15, in Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center. Don was born in South Bend on December 16, 1928, to Bernard J. and Hazel (Robinson) Doetsch. His parents have preceded him in death, along with his brother, Bernard; a son, D. William and a daughter, Anne Maureen.

On October 14, 1950, in South Bend he married the former Barbara J. Wuthrich who survives. Also surviving is their daughters, Joan (William) DeWalt of Darby, Mont., Julie (Diane) Doetsch of Rochester, III, and Jane (Paul) Pasin of LaGrange Park, Ill; a son, Gary (Debbie) Doetsch of Monmouth, Ill.; five grandchildren, Haley, Kara, Melissa, Joy Angeline and Augustine; three sisters, Helen Ziel of Lake Zurich, III., Marie Cook of South Bend and Carol Kaczmarek of Tampa, Fla.; three brothers, Richard Doetsch of Austin, Texas, Robert Doetsch of Austin, TX and John Doetsch of Mount Plymouth, Fla.

Don retired from Tyler Refrigeration of Niles, Michigan, after many years of service. Don services with the United Sates Marine Corps from 1948 to 1950. He was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church and a usher for his church for many years.

Don graduated from John Adams High School in 1946.

Family and friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. today in FOREST G. HAY FUNERAL HOME, located at Ironwood and Jefferson where a parish wake service will be at 3 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10 am. Monday, September 17, in the funeral home. Cremation will follow services and burial will be at a late date in Southlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund or to the American Cancer Society.
