Mary Margaret Newcomer

SOUTH BEND - Mary M. Newcomer, 83, residing in Mishawaka, passed away peacefully Monday, November 21, 2011. She was born July 16, 1928 in South Bend, a daughter of Clarence & Mary Ellen (Gillespie) Kendall, and has remained a lifelong resident of this area.

On October 6, 1973 in South Bend, IN, Mary was united in marriage to Raymond Kolesiak who passed away January 23, 1993. Then on October 14, 1995 in South Bend, she and Arthur S. Newcomer were united in marriage. She is survived by her loving husband Arthur, along with daughters, Kathy (Patrick) Kern of Colorado Springs, CO, Lynne Miner of South Bend, Diane Hill of Washington; her son, Wayne Liszewski of South Bend; step-daughter, Pam (Phillip) Gulotta of Hudson, IL; and stepson, Dennis (Pat) Newcomer of Jones, MI. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her son Paul Liszewski on January 19, 1995, and two sisters, Rose Ellen Kendall and Eveline Hoffman.

Mary retired October 1, 1995 as a sales clerk at Hudson's Dept. Store at University Park Mall, and previously worked as a manager at L.S. Ayres, and a sales clerk at Wyman's Dress Shop. Mary was a member of St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church in South Bend.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park Chapel, 2528 Mishawaka Ave., South Bend, where a parish Rosary will be at 6:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29 at St. Anthony de Padua Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
