Raymond Henry Polman Mount Juliet, TN Age 85, passed into eternal life with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on February 13, 2015.

Ray was born on March 27, 1929 in Butler, Minnesota. Ray is preceded in death by his loving wife of 42 years, Marilyn (Gibbs) Polman; his parents, Allegonda (Gunda) Jacoba (Dykhoff) Polman and Hendricus (Henry) Polman. Ray's childhood was spent in South Bend, Indiana where his father, Henry, was a baker for the University of Notre Dame. Ray became a passionate fan of the "Fighting Irish" football team. Ray was a decorated Veteran of Foreign Wars, 109th Draft, USMC, (1946-1948) "Operation Beleaguer", stationed in Hsin Ho, China with fellow marines of the C-1-5 (Charlie Company. 1st Battalion, 5th Regiment). Ray received a Purple Heart for wounds received during a communist attack at Hsin Ho, China, April 5, 1947. (Congressional record, 107th Congress (2001-2002).

Ray relocated his family to Nashville, Tennessee in 1957 where he worked as a Manager for Jones and Laughlin Steel Company. Ray was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Donelson for 58 years, where he worshiped and served in many capacities.

Ray is survived by one sister, Eleanor (Polman) Robertson (CA); four children, Terry (Debbie) Polman, Donna (John) Brackin, Greg (Nancy) Polman, Chris (Susie) Polman; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Hermitage Funeral Home on Sunday, February 15th from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a Rosary service at 7:30 p.m., and Monday, February 16th from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m., at Holy Rosary Church.Funeral Mass will be directed by Father Mark Hunt at Holy Rosary Church, 190 Graylynn Drive, Nashville, TN 37214 on Monday, February 16 at 10 a.m. Internment will be at Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum, 1001 Lebanon Road, Nashville, TN 37210 on Monday after the Mass.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to "Alive Hospice", 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203 ; or Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 190 Graylynn Drive, Nashville, TN 37214.
