James William Hoose, 91, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on July 21, 2021. He was born on January 20, 1930 in South Bend Indiana to Francis W. and Charlotte C. Hoose both of whom preceded him in death. After graduation from John Adams High School, he received his bachelors degree from Indiana University, where he met and married Betty E Reichenbach, who passed away in 1999 after forty-nine years of marriage. He received his MBA from Indiana Northern University. Jim has been a lifelong Lutheran and has served on the church councils of three churches and Chairman of the Board on one. He began worshiping at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in 1992, where he later met and married his wife, Jill, in 2004.

His forty year career in Labor Relations and Human Resources Management included his family living in Minnesota, Maryland, Colorado, Pennsylvania, Missouri and Michigan before moving to Texas in 1977. Jim also taught Labor Relations at Penn State and Houston Community College for over twenty-five years. He has served as a Labor Arbitrator for The Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service since 1983.

His avocation included officiating High School Football and Baseball for over twenty-five years, the pinnacle was his being selected as Referee for the 2001 Texas High School All-Star football game at TCU Stadium in Fort Worth.

Jim enjoyed traveling, going on 29 cruises and visiting all 50 United States and 37 foreign countries in Europe, Asia, North and South America and 16 Caribbean Islands.

His family was his wife Elizabeth Jill Hoose, six children: Catherine E. Hoose, of Tomball TX; John W. Hoose, wife Kathleen, who preceded him in death, of Denton TX; James W. Hoose, Jr, wife Mary of Raleigh NC; Jerome W Hoose, wife Jill of Perth Australia; Dana Meyer, husband Richard of Houston TX; and Diana Frazier of Santa Fe TX. Eleven grandchildren: Amy and Zayne Woods of Spring TX; Jonathan and Jenny Hake of McKinney TX; Kristen and James Holland of McKinney TX; Tricia Hake of Tomball TX; Michael and Wendy Hoose of Wake Forest NC; Kerry Hoose of Flower Mound TX; Amanda and McArthur Moore of Hutto TX; Jenna Hoose of Raleigh NC; Nicholas and Catherine Hoose of Katy TX; Marcus and Brenna Hoose of Katy TX; and Sarah Hoose of Denton TX. Sixteen Great Grandchildren: Kyle Woods; Kamryn Woods; Keelan Hake, Daly Hake; Angela Hake; Landon Burrow; Logan Holland; Connor Holland, who preceded him in death; Chloe Holland; Nolan Holland; Elijah Moore; Lillian Moore; Derek Hoose; James Hoose; Thomas Hoose; and Thea Hoose. And one great, great grandchild Hazel Woods.

His remains will be interred at Memorial Oaks Cemetery in Houston awaiting the glorious resurrection day when Christ returns.

A Visitation will on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Crowder Funeral Home, Webster, TX. The Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:30 AM at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 18220 Upper Bay Road, Nassau Bay, TX 77058. Interment will be at Memorial Oaks Cemetery, Houston, TX. Those desiring to make a memorial donation in Jim's memory may do so to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
