The Lord came walking through our garden today
and picked the most beautiful flower along the way
He chose Patsy, and yet it's okay
for someday, we too, will be part of His bouquet.

Patsy Ruth Martz, 82, passed away at 9:50 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Morningside Memory Care Center, South Bend, IN. She was born in South Bend, IN to Howard R. and Helen M. (Boyer) Nivens on April 22, 1929. On November 26, 1950 at Sunnyside Presbyterian Church, South Bend, she married the love of her life, Virgil W. Martz.

Patsy is survived by her husband of sixty years, Virgil; two sons, Scott A. (Jeanie) Martz and Randall R. Martz, both of South Bend, IN; three grandchildren, Valerie (Kevin) Lowell of Mishawaka, IN, Nicole Martz of Richmond, VA and Shaun Patrick Martz of Chicago, IL. She was preceded in death by her mother, father and brothers, Dale, Robert and Howard.

Patsy was a lifelong resident of South Bend. She was a 1948 graduate of John Adams High School. Patsy was a "forever" homemaker, mother, partner and friend. She loved flowers, nature, loved reading and traveling with Virgil, her brother, Dale and his wife, Pauline. Patsy was a "one in a million" Mom. We love and miss her and know she is with her loving family and "Home" at last.

A Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 in the Palmer Funeral Home-Guisinger Chapel, 3718 S. Michigan St. South Bend, IN. Burial will take place in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, South Bend.
