Services: 3 p.m. Saturday at Presbyterian Church of the Covenant in Sarasota. A memorial service is being planned for the South Bend/Three Rivers area later in the year.

Wayne Z. Woodworth is survived by his wife, Marilyn (Smith) of 53 years; son Kenneth (Kris) and their son, Kyle of South Bend; son, Gary (Lynn) and their sons, Paul and Ben, of Trafalgar, Ind.; son-in-law, Joseph (Mary) Wolf, and his sons, TJ, Matt and Jon of Tonawanda, N.Y., and Mike of Washington, D.C.; and a brother, Earl (Helen) Woodworth of South Bend and their daughters Elaine and Diane of Indianapolis. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Wendy Wolf.
Mr. Woodworth was born in South Bend where he grew up and lived all of his working life. Mr. and Mrs. Woodworth wintered in Sarasota since he retired in 1993. He was third generation co-owner of Woodworth Storage and Transfer Co., South Bend until retirement and managing partner of Woodworth Realty. He was a member of First Baptist Church in South Bend over 63 years singing in the choir and serving on numerous boards and committees. He also was a regular attendee of the Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, Sarasota.
Among his many activities in South Bend, Mr. Woodworth was formerly a vice president of the Junior Chamber of Commerce, member and past president of the downtown South Bend Kiwanis Club, past member of the South Bend YMCA Camp Eberhardt board of directors, past president of the Indiana Household Movers Association and he served on the board of the National Furniture Warehouseman's Association. He was also past board member of the South Bend/Mishawaka Board of Realtors and a broker for Red Carpet Real Estate.
A 1948 graduate of South Bend Adams High School, Mr. Woodworth earned his bachelor's degree in business from Indiana University in 1952. After graduation, Mr. Woodworth served as a Sergeant in the Army during the Korean War at Camp Breckinridge and Fort Knox.
Wayne not only distinguished himself as a family man, businessman and volunteer, he also did so as a sailor and golfer. He served as commodore, vice commodore, and on the race committee of the Corey Lake (Mich.) Yacht Club, and won numerous events and regattas with his wife, Marilyn. On the golf course, he networked with so many friends in Florida, Indiana, and Michigan he became known as the "Recreation Director." Among his crowning achievements were teaching his sons and grandsons how to golf and scoring a hole-in-one at Tatum Ridge Golf Links, Sarasota.
