MISHAWAKA - Evelyn M. ''Sally'' Stewart, 67, residing on South Union, Mishawaka, Ind., passed away after a brief illness at 6:29 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10, at the St. Joseph Community Hospital, Mishawaka.
Sally retired in 1984 from the Uniroyal Corporation. Sally was a member of the UAW Local Union, and had lived in the South Bend and Mishawaka areas since 1947.
She was born on March 14, 1931, in Fredericktown, Pa., to the late John F. and Esther B. (Spencer) Rice. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Stewart on July 3, 1998; and by a sister, Jacqueline Rice.
She is survived by two sons, James (Marcia ''Kay'') Stewart of Goshen, Ind., and John Stewart of Mishawaka; two grandchildren, Shawnna Stewart and Lisa Marie Ankrom-Stewart; and by three brothers, Jim Rice of South Bend, Ind., Thomas Rice of Edgewater, Fla., and Frank Rice of Bellevista, Ark.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Palmer Funeral Home, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend. Burial and graveside services will follow at the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Osceola, Ind.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Palmer Funeral Home, South Bend.
