SOUTH BEND - Kirkland B. Stewart Jr., 45, was called home on Nov. 24, 2007, in Saint Joseph Regional Hospital. He was born on Aug. 14, 1962, in South Bend. He is survived by his father, Kirkland Stewart Sr. His mother, Bernice Stewart, preceded him in death.

He leaves to cherish a son, Kirkland Stewart III; a daughter, LaShele Irons; sisters, Paula Stewart Aires (Dwight) of Arlington, Texas, and Jeanette "Sue" Walker (Joseph) of South Bend; guardian angels, Michael and Kelly Rayburn; nieces, Antoinette Sims and Jabrina Walker; nephews, Jashawn and Joseph Walker Jr.; a grandson, Javony Sailes; two great-nephews, Jashawn Jr. and Joseph Walker III; a great-niece, Jasmine Walker; a host of family and a multitude of friends. Kirkland has two lifelong friends, Barnabus Reeves and Robbie Robinson.

Kirkland attended John Adams High School and graduated in 1981.

During his years there he made friends who remained loyal to him for the rest of his years. He will be missed but never forgotten. I fought a good fight. I've run my race, and through it all I kept the Faith. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in The Clark-O'Neal Funeral Home, 2702 Lincoln Way West, South Bend, with visitation at noon. Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery.
