He was the only son in a family of five sisters. Growing up he loved the game of basketball, playing every chance he could to perfect his game. In his senior year he averaged 10 points per game for the John Adams Eagles. He graduated from Adams High School in 1960, and joined the Navy in 1961.

After the Navy, he went to Florida State, as a freshman and scored 25 points and 13 rebounds per game. He played with Dave Cowens, as a freshman, who went on to be one of the 50 greatest NBA players of all time and a good friend. He had tryouts with the LA Lakers, Portland Trailblazers, and Boston Celtics, before accepting a player coach position with the New York Nationals of the Harlem Globe Trotters, where he toured internationally for two seasons.

He met his wife, Suzanne Skoglund, in Seattle, WA, in January 1969. They both resided in Los Angeles and married July 12th, 1969, in a church wedding in Las Vegas, NV. After his basketball career Larry took a job with Continental Airlines in LA where he was stationed as an inflight supervisor, director of passenger service and later as station manager at various cities across the country. He retired from Continental in 1996. In 2005-2007 Larry worked a retirement position at Legends on the Campus of Notre Dame, South Bend, IN.

Jim,

In 1960, Larry Moore graduated from Adams, he went to Florida State, where he met and played with Dave Cowens...Boston Celtics great.

Larry went to Lincoln GS and became friends with my younger brother Tom Walling, Jr.
They were born the same day and were friends for life.
Larry passed away a couple of years back and Mr. Cowens came to the services.
Larry was a good player at Adams and played with the travelling team Harlem Globetrotters all over the USA and other countries.

A factoid about a really good Adams alumnus!

Michael Leon Krueger (1960)

My condolences to Larry’s family. I was a classmate of Larry at John Adams HS. I was able to get to know Larry not only as a classmate but I was also the senior manager of the basketball team at Adam’s HS. His obituary was spot on regarding his basketball talents. As I recall it was pleasure to know Larry as a friend and classmate.. May his memory be for a blessing.

Sincerely, Michael L. Krueger,  class of 1960.
