John Daugherty

    

John E Daugherty was born on October 26, 1948 in South Bend, Indiana and passed away on January 8, 2020 in Pikes Peak Hospice in Colorado Springs, Colorado. John was preceded in death by his mother, Eleanor C. Gay, his father William T. Daugherty, his brother William L. Daugherty and his brother Thomas M. Daugherty. He is survived by the love of his life, his wife Lori, and his brother Dennis R. Daugherty, his wife Susie, their son Dennis, his children Tyler and Andrew. Also survived by his niece Diane Fallier, her husband Jason and children Jayleen, Wyatt and Landen; sister-in-law Kathy Daugherty, her sons Michael Daugherty and his wife Jill; Adam Daugherty, his daughters Carlie and Alexis. Also survived by his nephew Mark Dougherty, his wife Vicki and their daughter Kirsten.

John served in the Army where he worked in nuclear weapons maintenance and learned the optical trade. He graduated from Indiana University South Bend with a degree in Biology and Psychology. He was an actor, musician, singer, poet, writer of novels and science fiction, and a stained glass artist. His science fiction novel "Oblivion" is published on Kindle. John met Lori in a theatrical production, they married in 1977 and were truly soulmates and best friends for life.

John and Lori owned Olde Towne Optical and Gifts from 2003 until 2013. A gifted certified optician, John then worked at Executive Park Eye Care until September 2019. He had a great smile, was compassionate and caring about others, loved his family and friends. There will be a short graveside ceremony witnessing the lowering of the casket at Memorial Gardens on January 15th at 11:00.
