John D. Lower III

Jan. 19, 1955 - March 7, 2018

SOUTH BEND - John D. Lower III, 63, of South Bend, Indiana passed away of an abdominal aneurism on Wednesday, March 7 in Pensacola, Florida with his children by his side. John was born in South Bend to John D. and Betty (Brown) Lower, Jr., who preceded him in death. Surviving are his cherished children, Tammy, John D. IV (Kiersten), Adam (Brooke), and Jeremy (Denise); grandchildren, Ashley, Ariel, John D. V, Damara (Austin), Ian, Eli, Leland, Summer Rose, Josslin, and Zada; along with great-grandchildren, Kingston and Presley. Also surviving are his brothers, Chris (Michelle) and Jeff (Victoria); and sisters, Melissa (Mike Collins) and Laura Lower.

A graduate of John Adams High School, John could fix anything. He retired in 2015 as a long time employee of Herman and Goetz. John was well known for his warm smile and friendly greeting to everyone, his sense of responsibility, and as the guy you could always count on. His life was dedicated to his family and his work. He did however always have time to help a friend in need.

John loved spending time at his lake house in Colon, Michigan. A great host, he enjoyed parties by the water, camping, snowmobiling, canoeing, and just looking through the picture window with his dog Rudy by his side. He loved the water, the trees, and the serenity of his surroundings.

John was kind, caring, and a terrific father, sibling, and son. Cremation has taken place. Family services will be held in Florida where he was spending the winter near his son Adam, and a celebration of his life will be held this summer at his beloved lake house in Michigan. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
