SOUTH BEND – James E. Trimble, 66, of Boulder, Colo., formerly of South Bend, died Thrusday in Manor Care Nursing Center, Boulder, following an illness.

He worked for Bendix Aviation in Mishawaka before working for Martin Marietta in Littleton, Colo., for six years; he also was an administrator for 18 years at the University of Colorado.

Born Nov. 21, 1925, in South Bend, he was an area resident for 34 years. He was a resident of Boulder since 1965, coming from Littleton.

On Aug. 9, 1952, in Mishawaka, he married Jean Zoe Smith. She survives with two daughters, Sally Houk of Steamboat Springs, Colo., and Mary Jane McCoy of Boulder; a son, Thomas of Greenwood Village, Colo.; six grandchildren; and a sister, Eileen Nemeth of Indianapolis, two brothers, Robert Trimble and Cliff Harlan, preceded him in death.

Mr. Trimble was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Boulder, serving as a deacon, was a member of Kiwanis in Boulder, and he served in the U.S. Army in Germany during World War ll, during which he received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

He graduated in 1949 from Indiana University with a B.S. in Education.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Boulder. Crist Mortuary, Boulder, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson’s Association of the Rockies, 1420 Ogden St., Suite 103, Denver, Colo. 80218.
