Barbara Works (Williams) - Class Of 1969 VIEW PROFILE

Ms. Barbara Williams, 70, of Indianapolis, Indiana, formerly of South Bend, Indiana departed this life on Thursday, August 5, 2021. She was born in South Bend on October 4, 1950 to the union of the late Cyntheria Paige-Taylor and the late Albert Works.

Barbara grew up in South Bend and attended South Bend Community Schools. In 1969 she graduated from John Adams High School. Following high school she attended Ivy Tech Community College and graduated with a degree in Social Services and Administration. Barbara formerly worked at the University of Notre Dame as an administrative assistant in the Multicultural Studies Department. In addition to her job responsibilities there, she was also a mentor and role model for the many minority students she interacted with. She loved spending time with her family and she enjoyed cooking. 

Barbara leaves to cherish her loving memory, two sons, Paul and Kevin Williams, both of Dowagiac, Michigan; one daughter Jeanette (Tony) Doaks-Perkins of Indianapolis; three sisters, Thelma J. Smith of Reynolburg, Ohio, Bernadette E. Thomas of Fort Wayne, Indiana and Priscilla Outlaw of South Bend; 10 beautiful grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews; a special life long friend, Denna Johnson of Ohio and a Godson, Ja’Vius D. Logan of Cincinnati, Ohio; she also leaves behind Sy’aiir Bobbitt who she had a very special and loving bond with and many other family members and friends.

Along with her parents, Barbara was also preceded in death by three sisters, Margaret Works, Juanita Works and Shirley Paige; two brothers, Curtis Works and Herbert Works and one great-grandson, Darnell Holloway.

Barbara was a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend. She was a beautiful woman with a compassionate heart. She stood ready and willing to help any and every one at any time. She was a fun loving person with a joyful spirit and radiant smile. She will be dearly missed by those who loved and knew her. 

Sleep peacefully dear Barbara and take your rest.                                                 Although we all love you, God loves you best.
