MICHAEL EDWARD O'NEAL

Oct. 31, 1955 - March 23, 2013 SOUTH BEND - Michael "Mike" Edward O'Neal, 57, of South Bend, Indiana, passed away Saturday, March 23, 2013, at the Center for Hospice with his family by his side. Mike was born October 31, 1955, in South Bend, to his parents, Louise and Edward Lee O'Neal Sr.

Growing up on the East Side of South Bend, he attended John Adams High School as a teenager.

Mike was employed by Uniroyal for more than 25 years, until they closed. In recent years, Mike worked for Yellow Cab, where he enjoyed transporting for Notre Dame games. Mike was an active member at New Life Fellowship Ministry in South Bend, Indiana, where he served as an usher and transporter for several years. Mike also volunteered for LeSea Ministries prayer line services.

Mike began his journey into fatherhood at the age of 42, with the birth of his only son, Matthew DeWayne O'Neal. Mike was a family-oriented, God-fearing father, brother, uncle and friend. Mike enjoyed fellowshipping with family and friends, swimming, going to the park, feeding the ducks, playing cards, shooting pool, visiting relatives, etc. Mike's passion was raising his son and rejoicing in the Lord. Mike was an AWESOME leader and role model. His physical presence in the community will truly be missed.

Mike's surviving family includes his son, Matthew O'Neal of South Bend, Indiana; his brother, Ronald (Geraldine) O'Neal of Radcliff, Kentucky; his sisters, Helen (Samuel) Morgan of Flint, Michigan, Barbara (Ulysses) Harris of Andover, Minnesota, MaryAnn O'Neal, Carolyn (David) Williams, both of South Bend, and Sheryl (Richard) Gunn of Granger, Indiana; several nephews, nieces, great-nephews, great-nieces; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lee O'Neal Sr. and Louise O'Neal; his brother, Edward Lee O'Neal Jr.; his sister, Rosemary Granger; and niece, Tina Morgan.

Funeral services for Michael Edward O'Neal will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2013, in New Life Fellowship Ministry, 2301 W. Dubail Street, South Bend.
