Charles E. Pawell Sr. June 10, 1933 - Oct. 25, 2014 SOUTH BEND - Charles Edward Pawell Sr., 81, of South Bend, IN, passed away Saturday, October 25, 2014, at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, IN. He was born June 10, 1933, in South Bend, IN, to the late Fred and Mary (Landau) Pawell.

He was united in marriage to the former Carla Leah Cox on October 16, 1954, at Westminster Church, South Bend. Charles is survived by his wife of sixty years, Carla L. Pawell; son, Charles E. (Katherine) Pawell, Jr. of South Bend, IN; daughter, Christine L. Vickers of South Bend, IN; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jordan Osborne; brother, Frederick Pawell Jr. of New Port News, VA; sister-in-law, Joyce Pawell of Arcadia, FL; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth Pawell.

Charles was a lifelong area resident. He graduated from John Adams High School in 1953 and served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from the armed forces in July 1, 1961.

He retired on July 1, 1988, as a postal worker from the United States Postal Service after thirty-five years of service.

Charles was a member of Epworth Memorial Methodist Church, South Bend.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at the Palmer Funeral Home-River Park, 2528 Mishawaka Avenue, South Bend, IN. Friends may visit with the family from 4:00-6:00 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
