SOUTH BEND - Eugene F. Yoder, 82, of South Bend, passed away Tuesday, July 10, 2012, in his home following an extended illness. He was born December 21, 1929, in South Bend, to the late Eugene F. Wiess and Lois Wood. Also preceding him in death was a brother, Bob Yoder.

On March 17, 1956, he married Dorothy M. Brothers, who died July 25, 2011. Eugene is survived by three sons, David Scott Yoder of South Bend, Steve (Vicki) Yoder of Granger and Eugene Francis (Sue) Yoder of Mishawaka. He has 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren left to cherish his memory. Eugene has his siblings surviving him: Joyce (Douglas) Blake, Elaine Pipke, Tom (Donna) Yoder, Jim Yoder and John (Nancy) Wood, and an aunt, Nellie Yoder.

Eugene attended Jefferson Grade School and furthered his education at Adams High School.

Eugene served his country in the United States Army as a medic in Korea in a M.A.S.H unit. He retired as a radio technician from Gates Chevrolet Co. after 25 years service. He was an avid bowler and he was a pin-setter in his earlier years at the Bowl moor in South Bend. Eugene was a very gentle person, and loved to tinker and his speed boat. Eugene was a loving husband and father, and his memory will cherished.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 16, 2012, in the Willow Creek United Methodist Church, 14010 E. Jefferson. E-mail condolences may be made at www.welsheimer.com.
