NORTH LIBERTY - Mark A. Miller, 60, of North Liberty, died Saturday, November 23, 2013. He was born in South Bend on January 31, 1953, to Noah Gene Miller and Helen Imogene (Houston) Miller, and earned his degree at I.U.-South Bend. On October 5, 1974, he married Pamela R. Cohen.
Mark retired from Norfolk & Southern Railroad as a welding instructor and was past president of the local Transport Workers Union. He was the former Director of the Phantom Legion Drum & Bugle Corps, an active volunteer with the Phantom Regimen, Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, and the John Glenn High School Marching Band, as well as a former Boy Scout Troop leader. Mark loved his family & friends and he cherished the moments spent with each of them.
He was a man of great character & generosity and his kind, dignified spirit shined even as he battled cancer. He was a lover of trains and railroad memorabilia.
Mark is survived by his wife of 39 years, Pamela R. Miller; his children, Chad Miller of Crown Point, Heather (David) Nelson of Lowell, & Cory (Katie) Miller of Granger; and his grandchildren, Zachary & Emma Nelson in Lowell. He is also survived by his father, Gene (Peggy) Miller, and his mother, Imogene Miller, both of Mishawaka; his sisters, Janine (John) Caruthers of Frisco, TX, & Lisa (Ron) Metz of Kokomo; and several nieces & nephews.
 
Memorial service is 1:00 Monday, December 2, 2013, at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 10776 McKinley Hwy. The family will receive friends from 11-1 Monday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family's preferred memorial is the Eric Metz Endowment Fund at Riley Children's Foundation, 30 S.
