SOUTH BENDBeverly L. August, 66, of Battle Creek, Mich., formerly of South Bend, died Friday at her home, after an illness.

Mrs. August had been employed by the University of Notre Dame in the accounting department and later for Studebaker Corp. in the personnel and advertising departments. She was also co-owner of the former Lido Supper Club.

She was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Detroit. In 1948, in South Bend, she married Jack Dempsey. He died in 1960. In 1966 she married Frank August.

He survives with three daughters, Aimee Dunn and Danielle August, both of Battle Creek, and Jay Ann LewAllen of Costa Mesa, Calif.; a son, Brady of South Bend; two grandchildren; her mother, Veronica Turpin of Battle Creek; and two sisters, Mary Ann Bonner of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Doris May Megyesi of South Bend. She was active with Meals on Wheels, Leila Follies and Chesterfield Dance Club, Battle Creek.


Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Shaw Funeral Home, Battle Creek. Burial will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home, where a rosary will be said at 7 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Samaritan Hospice Care, American Cancer Society or American Lung Association.
