Brian Leslie Campbell

Brian Campbell, 43, of 419 S. 25th, died from multiple fractured ribs and ruptured lungs shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday when his car rolled over twice at a railroad crossing on U.S. 31 just south of Lakeville.
State Police said Campbell was driving north on U.S. 31 when he reportedly swerved in the northbound lanes and crossed the median when his car hit the flasher posts on the median. Campbell was thrown from the car before it rolled over.
Dr. Lawrence Curry, deputy coroner, pronounced Campbell dead at the scene. Damage to the car was estimated at $7,500.
Friends of Brian Campbell may call from 2 to 9 p.m. today in the McGann Funeral Home. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service as a carrier. Born on Dec. 30, 1936, in South Bend, he had lived here all his life.
He is survived by his two daughters, Diane Campbell of Mishawaka and Jolene Campbell of South Bend; two sons, Ernest and Brian Jr., both of South Bend, and a brother, Alan of Mishawaka. Campbell was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the American Legion Post 303 and the local chapter of the National Association of Letter Carriers.
