BUCHANAN - Dr. Donald Willis Eberly, 69, of Buchanan, Michigan died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007, at 4:20 p.m. at James Cancer Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

He was born January 31, 1938, in Wauseon, Ohio, to the late Willis David Eberly and Frances Edith Amelia Storms. On October 6, 1962, he married Kara Elene Wike in Fort Polk, LA. He is survived by Kara; children, Janet Elene Eberly (David) Jackson of Silver Lake, IN and Richard Donald (Yoko) Eberly of Buchanan; grandchildren, Amy Elene Jackson, Ann Marie Jackson and Audrey Lee Jackson of Silver Lake, IN and Sarah Elene Eberly and Haruki Richard Eberly of Buchanan. His brother, David Storms Eberly, preceded him in death.

Donald attended John Adams High School in South Bend, IN, and went on to graduate from Indiana University Bloomington with doctorates in Optometry and Education. He then served in the Army at Fort Polk, LA, and Camp Walters, TX. He taught and became an administrator in the LaPorte Community Schools, LaPorte, IN, from 1965, until his retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Church of the Brethren in South Bend, IN.

After retirement, Don enjoyed managing his tree farm, choir, church, and family. The funeral service will be Sunday, December 2, 2007, at 2 p.m. with visitation prior at 1 p.m. at the Prince of Peace Church, 53105 N. Ironwood in South Bend. Burial will be Monday, December 3, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Saint Joseph Memorial Park. Reverend David Hendricks will officiate.
