Barbara Ann Wetmore (Kolber)

Adams 1955 Barbara A (Wetmore) Kolber

June 18, 1937 - April 29, 2017

Condolences

SOUTH BEND - My life has expired on April 29th, 2017, due to a sudden illness.

I was born on June 18th, 1937, to Eursel R. Wetmore and Catherine A. (Currise) Wetmore. They are both deceased, as is my husband of 39 years, Ted S. Kolber, who passed away on May 26th, 2005. I am also preceded in death by my sister, Delphine.

I leave behind my children and grandchildren to remember the great times we have had together. Greg and his children, Ashley, Greg Jr., and Rickey, Cheryl and her children, Mark Jr. (Kelly) and Kayleigh, and Diane and her children, Emily and Garrett. I also leave behind great-grandchildren, Seamus, Hunter, Maddy, Mayvin, Gianni, and Famie, and great-great-grandchild Nora.

I leave behind my nephew and his wife, Larry and Mary Jane, and their daughters, Monica and Melissa. Also, my best friend of 56 years, Ann (Itsy) Kalb.

I graduated from John Adams High School in 1955. While in high school I worked at Burtons Dry Goods and Chauncey's Root Beer Barrel. After graduation, I worked at Bendix for 2 years. Later I worked at the Frances Shop, Newman's Women Apparel, and Millers Children Wear.

After raising my children, my next favorite thing to do was to take care of and help raise my grandchildren while their mothers worked. Everyone who knows me knows they were the light of my life. I enjoyed going to all of their school and sports functions - and there were many. That was a very great time in my life.

I also loved country music and videos, going to country music concerts with family and friends, going to the Round Barn Theatre in Nappanee for plays and musicals. I loved Notre Dame football and Notre Dame women's basketball. I was a NASCAR fan and enjoyed watching the races on T.V. Two of my favorite drivers were Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Carl Edwards. I watched pro-football and had many favorite players throughout the years. I was a lifelong Cubs fan and I also enjoyed watching golf.

So, as you can see, I had a good life. Thanks to my family and all my great friends who I have partied with through the years...there are too many to name. You know who you are! I have asked to be cremated and laid to rest at the head of my father's grave in St. Joseph Cemetery. Per my wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. In my memory, donations may be made to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Michiana, 615 North Michigan Street, 3rd floor, South Bend, IN 46601.

“I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done.

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways

of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I'd like the tears of those who grieve to be dried before the sun

of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.”

“Afterglow” by Helen Lowrie Marshall
