Donald W. Kronewitter

July 7, 1953 ~ October 21, 2024 (age 71)

Donald W. Kronewitter, 71, of South Bend, IN., passed away at 9:25 p.m. Monday, October 21, 2024 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center Mishawaka.

Don was born on July 7, 1953 in Mishawaka to the late Orville and Helen Louise (Hamman) Kronewitter.

Don is survived by his brother, Orville (Stacy) Kronewitter of South Bend and his sister, Sally (Larry) Weeks of Florida, Nephews, Adam Kronewitter, Tom (Beth) Kronewitter, Matt (Kylee) Kronewitter, Niece Chelsea Kronewitter, Great Nephews, Nolan Kronewitter, and Dylan Kronewitter, Great Niece, Selena Kronewitter and her two children Willow and Ariel.  Girl Friend, Beth Hollister of South Bend, her daughter Carmann Bice, and her children Ashlyn, Riley, and Luna. 

Don was also preceded in death by a brother, Thomas L. Kronewitter and a sister, Gail L. Kronewitter.

Don was beloved by all, always eager to lend a helping hand, and share his knowledge or a wrench.  He loved automobiles and enjoyed working on them.  He was the ultimate “Gear Head”.

You will be forever remembered for your many talents, in particular your artistic abilities, gifts, and sense of humor. Whenever Don worked on a project be it work, auto, carpentry, plumbing, etc., he had an amazing attention to detail.  He was so good at installing alarms that he was called upon to install for Jim Irsay, Indianapolis Colts owner, and the late Hall of Fame Chicago Bears Running Back Gayle Sayers, just to name a few. 

You knew Don liked you if he gave you a nickname and teased you.  That was his way of saying he cared about you!  He remembered many of his high school classmates and friends from his youth and could tell you where they lived and what kind of cars they drove 

 Don, you will be forever missed in our daily lives and always close with us in our hearts.

A Celebration of Don’s life will be held at a later date.
