ELKHART - Mary Margaret Sonneborn, 54, died Monday, August 27, from a tragic accident near her home.
Mary Margaret Sonneborn was born on November 21, 1952, to Roy L. and Margaret E. (Seeger) Sonneborn (both deceased) of South Bend, Indiana. Also preceding her in death was her beloved uncle, Jacob Seeger.
Mary attended John Adams High School and was a graduate of Saint Mary's College. She was last employed by ObeCo, Inc., of Goshen, Indiana, as a sales coordinator for the firm.
Mary was an animal lover and cherished her Labrador retrievers, Maggie and Quinn.
She lived for Notre Dame football and never missed a chance to attend an Indy 500 race with her father. Mary was a breast cancer survivor and was active with the American Cancer Society. She was a member of the Broadway Theater League Board and was a vice president at First Source Bank.
Surviving are her cousins, Fredrick J. (Bernice) Sonneborn of South Bend and Charles F. (Ellen) Sonneborn of Granger. Also surviving are her good friends, Terry Johnson, David Hugus, Robin Yates and Jerry Mann, who all cherished and loved her very much.
A memorial service will be held in Our Lady's Chapel at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, Indiana, on Saturday, September 8, at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Suicide Prevention Hotline or to the American Cancer Society.
Elkhart Cremation Services, 2100 W. Franklin Street, Elkhart, Indiana, is in charge of arrangements.
