Charles Timothy Underwood

SOUTH BEND, IN - Charles Timothy “Tim” Underwood passed away on Friday, September 7. His big generous heart couldn't go on any longer.

Tim was born in South Bend on September 19, 1952. Left to enjoy wonderful memories are his mother, Jackie Swats; his siblings, Cheryl Matthew, David Santuro, Lisa Santuro, and Mike Santuro, many nieces and nephews, as well as many close friends. Tim was predeceased by his loving grandmother, “Mimi”.

In 1984, Tim married his now ex-wife, Janet and that marriage brought Austin Underwood into the world. Austin was the light of Tim's life and together they shared their mutual love of baseball. Some of Tim's proudest moments were watching his son play baseball.

Tim graduated from John Adams HighSchool in 1971. After graduation he enjoyed his job at ThriftiMart as well as his work and time spent at the “The Library”.

In his late twenties he relocated to Southern California where he lived until his passing. While there he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit, dabbling in real estate, surfing publications, and other private ventures.

Tim was well known for his “Woodisms” and his friends loved keeping records of them. “Woodisms” were Tim's unintended use of an incorrect word with a similar sound, also known as malaprops.

In keeping with Tim's wishes there will be a private family celebration of life to take place at a future date.
