Sue graduated from Adams High School in South Bend, and obtained her Bachelor degree at Indiana University in Bloomington. She married Dave Carter and moved to Cincinnati, OH. They divorced after six years and Sue moved to Chicago, IL where she was a buyer for Carson Pirie Scott & Company. She came back to South Bend and started her own sign painting business as The Lady of Letters. When she was in her 50’s she decided to go back to school and earned a PhD at the New School for Social Research in the heart of New York City. After obtaining her degree, she moved in with her brother, Tim, and sister-in-law, Sally, in St Paul, MN. She was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Phoenix. In 2009 she packed up her vehicle once again and moved to San Cristobol de las Casas, a town in southern Mexico. There she taught English to the school children of local professionals. After nine years in Mexico, she moved back to South Bend due to health reasons. She was a true adventurer who loved to read and discuss politics. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Browne, of Guatemala. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services and there will be no visitation or services.
