Edward L. Drake, age 74, of Fremont, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, Indiana

Ed was born on September 29, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Earl and Olivia Marie (Whiteman) Drake, they preceded him in death.

He graduated from John Adams High School in South Bend, Indiana. He served our country during the Vietnam War in the US Army.

He married Sandra Kay Baer on June 19, 1965 in South Bend, Indiana, she preceded him in death on April 24, 2015.

Ed retired from Consolidated Freight Lines in Fremont, and also had worked for Associated Truck Lines, Murphy Motor Freight, and Cardinal Bus Line.

He was a member of the Orland American Legion Post # 423, Fremont Moose Lodge, and had attended St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Angola, Indiana. He enjoyed fishing, watching NASCAR, and was a huge fan of Jeff Gordon.

Survivors include his son, Robert Drake of New Carlisle, Indiana, two grandsons, Tristen Drake and Owen Drake of New Carlisle, Indiana, a brother, John (Chris) Drake of West Covina, California, a sister, Ann Drake of South Bend, Indiana, and sisters-in-law, Lisa Marie (Tom Gabler) Baer of Mishawaka, Indiana, and Patti Drake of California.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Kenny, Tom, and Chuck.

Calling hours will be held from 5-8 pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Beams Funeral Home, Fremont, Indiana, with Father Robert Showers officiating.

Burial will be at Jamestown Cemetery, Fremont, Indiana. Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by members of the Orland American Legion Color Guard, and the Ft. Wayne Army Military Honors Team.
