Dorothy Ann (Nemeth) Emerick, age 82, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 10th, 2024, at Center for Hospice Care surrounded by her family. Dorothy was born on May 6th, 1942. She was raised in South Bend, Indiana by her parents Wendall and Elizabeth “Marie” Nemeth with her five siblings, Max (Barb Nemeth), Jack, Carol (Bob Rand), Wendell “Junior” (Ann Nemeth), and Elizabeth “Beth" (Chris Mitchell). She graduated from John Adams High School in 1960.

In high school while working at Azar’s as carhop #4, she met her husband, best friend, and love of her life, Conrad “Lee” Emerick. They were married on June 4th, 1961.

Dorothy was devoted to caring for others. During her years at Hope Chapel and Timberland churches, she served as a youth leader, quizzing coach, choir member, and director of Vacation Bible School. Most recently she has been active at Nappannee Missionary Church. In high school, she was a proud member of Glee club. Later in life, she was a leader for Camp Fire Girls, loved to make homemade cards for others, and play cards with her family.

Dorothy proudly worked and served as a Caregiver and as a part of the Clearing Department at the bank.

Together, Dorothy and Lee had three children, Darcey (Demmitt), Tina, and Scott Emerick; two grandchildren, Brittany (Dan Gulbranson) and Anna Demmitt, and two great-grandchildren Dorothy and Sigrid Gulbranson.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents Wendell and Marie; her siblings Jack, Carol, Junior, and Beth; and her husband Lee.

Donations in Dorothy’s honor can be made to Nappanee Missionary Church (70417 IN-19 North, Nappanee, IN 46550) or Baugo Township  Fire Department (57955 Co Rd 3 B, Elkhart, IN 46517 ), who the family would like to thank for all their care.

Family and friends may come to visit on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, located at 10776 McKinley Highway, Osceola, Indiana 46561.  A funeral service shall begin at 11:30 AM with burial to follow at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
