Charles L. Benn

Charles L. “Butch” Benn, 80, passed away December 15, 2020 at his home in Elkhart. He was born March 8, 1940 in South Bend, IN to Charles E. & Mary (Ditsch) Benn.

On May 17, 2002 he married Jo Ann; she preceded him in death on July 19, 2017. He was also preceded in death by his parents and stepson, Todd.

Surviving are two children, Charles L. (Erin Spencer) Benn and Christine (Ken) Cotter; mother of his children, Cindy Davis; and five stepchildren, Lisa, Lolita, Sheri, Patrick, and Aaron. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amy Newcomer, Bryan Benn, Bobby Newcomer, Jr., and Nick Benn, six great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Mary (Fred) Carrico and Richard (Marianne) Benn.

Butch was a U.S. Navy Veteran and retired from K & M after many years of service. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, and was an avid Notre Dame and New York Yankees fan. He will be remembered as a caring man with a heart of gold who would figure out a way to help anyone in need.

The family would like to thank Jackie and her staff at the Center for Wound Healing in Elkhart and Cindy at Firefly Nursing Agency for the wonderful care they took of our Dad.

Per his wishes, cremation will take place and there will be no services.
